Glion (グライオン Guraion?, Glion in original Japanese language versions) is one of the 493 fictional species of Pokémon creatures from the multi-billion-dollar[1] Pokémon media franchise – a collection of video games, anime, manga, books, trading cards and other media, created by Satoshi Tajiri. The purpose of Glion in the games, anime and manga, as with all other Pokémon, is to battle both wild Pokémon, untamed creatures encountered while the player passes through various environments, and tamed Pokémon owned by Pokémon trainers.[2]
Glion's name is likely based upon the words glider, and scorpion, as it is the monster (vampire) scorpion Pokémon (compare to Drapion.)

[edit] Biological characteristics
Glion appears to be a combination of a vampire and a more sinister form of Gligar whose limbs are seemingly independent of its bat-like wings and a narrow waist. It has two fully-developed pincers for hands and has two barbs on its tail, as opposed to Gligar's one, giving its tail the reseblance of vampire's fangs.
[edit] In the video games
Glion made its first appearance in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. Glion evolves from a Gligar that is holding the new item Sharp Fang and by leveling it up only at night. In addition, Gligar can only be encountered if the player has obtained the National Dex and has a Pokemon Emerald cartridge inserted into the Nintendo DS.
Glion's stats are an improvement from Gligar's average attributes, with above-average Defense and great Attack and Speed.
