Gloucester Maritime Heritage Center

The Gloucester Maritime Heritage Center is a non-profit grassroots organization located in Gloucester, Massachusetts, USA. It which started in 1999 when nearly three hundred people joined together to purchase the Harbor Loop site of the Gloucester Marine Railways. The Center occupies 39,069 square feet overlooking Gloucester Harbor. Property highlights include a working marine railway, a 19th century mill building, an icehouse which has been transformed into a boat-building shop, an outdoor aquarium, exhibits, auditorium, plankton laboratory, a visitor center, and three piers.
The two core components of the Center's mission are "to champion the preservation of Gloucester's maritime industrial history and tradition" and "to serve as a resource for the study of maritime history, industry, and ecology."
