Talk:GMA Dove Awards
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This article is horribly biased against christian rock; while I admit that the Dove Awards arent anywhere near ideal, this page is solely devoted to ridiculing them, it seems. Kertrats 01:17, 7 May 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Agreed
It seems to have had a strong bias against it, but until such time that I can find demographic info on the votership somewhere, I cannot dispute the elderly portion of the commentary. And conservative music tastes isn't a dirty phrase in my book, although many people interpret it in that fashion.

Oh, and promoting the most popular bands that have a track record, or interesting niche genres isn't inherently bad in my view either. No sense giving an award to a band that nobody will listen to after all. =)
[edit] Elderly
Given this statement from http://www.gospelmusic.org/gmainfo/aboutus.aspx, I doubt that elderly is an appropriate description of the voters, though they may still be biased:
- "More than 4,200 members make up the Gospel Music Association and include record company professionals, aspiring and established artists/writers/musicians, concert promoters, radio professionals, retailers, publishers, producers, booking agents, artist managers, and more. This diverse group represents every Gospel music genre including pop/contemporary, rock, hip hop, inspirational, urban, southern gospel, Latin and more."
