[edit] Ecology
Friendly and kind in nature, gold dragons can be seen talking and teaching their acquired wisdom to humans, elves, planetouched (Aasimars, most likely) and other non-hostile races. When forced to fight, gold dragons prefer to converse with intelligent creatures, they use Intimidate and Sense Motive to gain the upper hand.
[edit] Environment
Gold dragons typically live in warm expanse of grassy plains. In the Forgotten Realms campaign setting, gold dragons and other types of dragons reside in the Serpent Hills, the Earthfast Mountains, the Vast, the Graypeak Mountains, Loudwater, the Orsraun Mountains, and Turmish.
[edit] Typical physical characteristics
On hatching, a gold dragon’s scales are dark yellow with golden metallic flecks.
The flecks get larger as the dragon matures until, at the adult stage, the scales are completely golden. Gold dragons’ faces are bewhiskered and sagacious; as they age, their pupils fade until the eyes resemble pools of molten gold.
[edit] Alignment
Most gold dragons are lawful good. Intelligent and wise, gold dragons prefer to talk and reason things out with adventurers who happen to 'stumble' into their lair. The dragon's attitude towards visibly evil characters is not as friendly though, as it will try to eradicate any evil aspects in its territory.
[edit] Society
Wyrmling, very young, young, juvenile, and young adult gold dragons tend to be solitary or in a clutch (2–5); adult, mature adult, old, very old, ancient, wyrm, or great wyrm gold dragons can be solitary, in a pair, or a family (1–2 adults and 2–5 offspring).
Gold dragons can sometimes be seen taking human form to experience living in human society, and aiding travelers. They are not however, oblivious to chaotic and evil plots and will do to their best to thwart said plots whilst remaining within lawful grounds.
[edit] Gold dragons in other media
The Golden Dragon was also the first video game boss, in the game dnd.
