"Gomenasai", (correctly spelled Gomen nasai) meaning "I'm sorry" in Japanese, is a ballad and is t.A.T.u.'s third single from their second album, Dangerous and Moving. There were two different videos for this single, an animated one, and a version that actually features the group. t.A.T.u. has stated that they did not want Gomenasai to become a single, but their record company chose it for them.

[edit] Making of the song
This song was originally just a rumour, t.A.T.u.'s "Song of Repentance" for their mischievous acts in Japan. This however was never confirmed. They reportedly said the song was called "I'm Sorry Japan" but this turned out to be false.
The lyrics leaked on Japanese television. The song includes a string arrangement by Richard Carpenter (1/2 of the famous group The Carpenters).
Other rumors state that Julia had trouble with the lyrics of the song and recording halted until the company assured her it was a "good song."
[edit] Music Video
There are two versions of the Gomenasai video, one an animated video, and the other a video that actually features Lena and Yulia.
The non-animated video was directed by Hype Williams and was shot in Los Angeles the week of March 13, 2006. It was filmed in the Botanical Gardens in L.A. It exudes a soft, dreamy and beautiful feeling and is not by any means a re-creation of the action-packed animated video.
The video basically shows the girls singing against a black background with shots of stone angel statues from time to time.
The video/single was released mid-late May around Europe, Asia and South America, although the song is already very popular the video has had bad feedback from many fans who think it's not t.A.T.u.'s style.
Yulia stated in an interview that she didn't like the song or the video and it was their record label that told them to release it. Lena also said the video is very plain and simple but beautiful at the same time.
[edit] Anime video
The place holder video of "Gomenasai", in the form of Japanese anime, was released late February 2006 and early March 2006 in some countries. The video starts with Yulia lying in her room, thinking about Lena, but unbeknownst to her, she was being carefully watched by a small robot. Yulia then changes her clothes and equips herself with weapons, then goes to start her car. While Yulia is driving the car, she finds out she is being trailed by robots. Yulia crashes into the robots, causing an explosion, but she manages to escape and kill the robots. Meanwhile Lena is trapped in prison by an enemy. Yulia breaks inside the enemy's fort and defeats them. Ironically, at the end of the video, Yulia and Lena embrace but there was a big gap between. The video is available through iTunes in some European countries.
[edit] "Happy Birthday"
Samples of "Gomenasai" were used for the song "Happy Birthday" by rap group Flipsyde. It uses the lyrics "What I thought was a dream... was as real as it seemed" from Lena and "I made a mistake" from Yulia, and also the piano intro. t.A.T.u. have accompanied Flipsyde while promoting Flipsyde's single and have performed together on Top of the Pops and The Dome in Germany, though t.A.T.u. did not make an appearance in Flipsyde's "Happy Birthday" music video.
