Gonda is a town in Uttar Pradesh, India in the Gonda District. It is situated 125 km away from state capital Lucknow. It is second most populas city of Uttar Pradesh after Varansi.
The main occupation of the people in the district is farming. Agricultural produce include wheat, paddy, different pulses, oilseeds and sugarcane. Through the district pass the holy rivers Saryu and Ghaghra. There are many religious places in the district and the district headquarter itself is very close (60 km) to holy city Ayodhya, the birth place of Lord Rama. It is birth place of great poet Tulsi Das who wrote epic Ramcharitamans, depicting life and virtues of Lord Rama.
