From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
GoYin, LLC, an international multi-level marketing company based in American Fork, Utah, was founded in 2006. Its sole product is a multi-fruit and herb beverage called GoYin Juice promoted as a anti-oxidant dietary supplement. The juice is made using a proprietary formula containing an unspecified amount of mangosteen juice, Goji juice and many other superfruits and herbs which includes extracts of xanthones. According to the GoYin Website, "...{GoYin} is a functional drink that combines the collective goodness of superfruits and herbs in a patent-pending formula rooted in Traditional Asian Medicine (TAM)... and is the first company to base a nutritional drink on both ancient wisdom and cutting-edge science."[1]

[edit] Company operations
Privately held and founded in April, 2006, GoYin, LLC sells GoYin Juice mainly using a multi-level marketing structure [2] called the MultiFlex Compensation Plan[3].
The company has stated that the pre-launch and kick-off conference starts March 23 - 24, 2007 and information about about these events can be found at GoYin's Corporate Site[4].
The company has stated that a percentage of its net profits will go to charity. [5].
[edit] Ingredients
GoYin Juice is a blend of 7 fruits: Cili , Longan, Gac, Hawthorn Berry, Lycium berry (goji), mangosteen mangosteen and Seabuckthorn berry.[6] and 7 herbs: Astragalus, Coriolus versicolor, Jujube date, Ginger, Rhodiola rosea, Schisandra]berries and Tangerine peel[7].
[edit] Health Benefits
Marketing materials used to promote XanGo juice, another dietary supplement and multi level marketing company, indicate more than 20 human health benefits, among which are "anti-inflammatory," "anti-microbial," "anti-fungal," "anti-viral," "anti-cancer," "anti-ulcer," "anti-hepatotoxic," "anti-rhinoviral," and "anti-allergic"[8]. Promotional literature for the product cites antioxidants from the inedible rind of the fruit as providing health benefits. None of these claims, however, has scientific proof established by rigorous peer-reviewed research and human clinical trials, as discussed below.
In mid-2005, the American Cancer Society profile of mangosteen juice said that there was no evidence that any part of the fruit is effective as a treatment for cancer in humans, but preliminary laboratory studies showed some promise for treating acne. The profile mentioned laboratory studies indicating need for further research [9].
On its website, after stating that "Research shows xanthones (a component of GoYin juice) possess potent antioxidant properties that may help maintain intestinal health, strengthen the immune system, neutralize free radicals, help support cartilage and joint function, and promote a healthy seasonal respiratory system", the company adds an obligatory disclaimer as a footnote: "These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease"[10].
