Grant Taylor (actor)

Grant Taylor was born in Australia in 1917. He became an actor and captured the co staring role (Patch behind Robert Newton's, Long John) in Australian televisions (and the Worlds) first ever COLOUR TV series Long John Silver, in which he's young son Kit played Jim Hawkins 1955. He moved to the United Kingdom and started work on the medical drama Emergency Ward 10 later appearing in the Anglia TV's soap "Weavers Green" and several guest outings in Lew Grade backed projects. (inc. The Avengers, The Champions and The Trouble Shooters) On the movie side you can see this fine character actor in Quatermass and the pit (1967) and opposite the kids in Calamity the Cow (Phil Collins), but is however most famous for his role as General Henderson in the Gerry Anderson science fiction series UFO. His last appearance in the series was in the penultimate episode 'Mindbender'. He died of cancer the following year in 1971 aged 54.
