Great Lakes Bible College
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Great Lakes Bible College is an unaccredited school of higher learning. It began when members of the Churches of Christ in the late 1940s to establish a Christian junior college in southern Ontario. The goal was to provide an opportunity for Christian education for the international populations of the Great Lakes basin. In 1952 a modest launch was made in Beamsville, in the Niagara Peninsula, offering high school classes and an adult Bible department. Great Lakes Christian College developed over the years as a residential high school.
Great Lakes Bible College existed on the campus of Great Lakes Christian College as a post-secondary diploma-granting institute (known as the “Faculty of Bible and Missions” and later as the “School of Bible and Missions”). In 1987 the school secured its charter and became an independent institution.
In 1996 it moved the program to Waterloo where it serves today from the Waterloo Church of Christ building. GLCC and GLBC continue as sister institutions in the unified Great Lakes endeavour.
