[edit] Character History
"Green Man" is the adopted name of the Green Lantern from the Space Sector designated 2828 by the Green Lantern Corps. Uxorians frown upon individuality, and in Green Man’s own words, “On Uxor, all are one.” Green Man was a misfit who rebelled against his society’s anti-individualism mores, and longed for a personal identity. When the extraterrestrials known as the Guardians of the Universe offered him a position as a member of their Green Lantern Corps, Green Man jumped at the chance. One of the complications of this choice was that Green Man could never again legally enter his home star system, because of the pact the Guardians have with the Psions of Vega, which prohibits the Corps presence in that sector. Although Green Man did enlist the aid of the Omega Men in attacking the nestworld of a group of humanoid arachnids called the Spider Guild a few light years outside the Vega system (for which he was reprimanded by the Guardians), he adhered to the pact more faithfully concerning matters within that system, as in Green Lantern Corps: Recharge #2 (December 2005), when he refused to help Earth Green Lanterns Kyle Rayner and Guy Gardner find the missing Lantern recruit Soranik Natu, who was traced to Vega.
As a member of the Corps, Green Man encountered many other beings in his adventures, such as the goddess X'Hal, who lived inside the star Vega; the whale-like Viathans; the Psions, who performed experiments on Green Man when he was brought to their research center, Wombworld; the Tamarans, etc.
He is currently partnered with the robot Stel, the Green Lantern of the planet Grenda, in Sector 3009.1, as seen in the miniseries Green Lantern Corps: Recharge.
Green Man was one of the Lanterns who participated in the defense of Oa against the onslaught of Superboy-Prime, as depicted in Infinite Crisis #7.
The Green Man had quit the Green Lantern Corps, joined the Omega Men and was killed by Durlans in the Invasion! mini-series. Given that decades later he reappeared in Green Lantern Corps: Recharge alive and well, without explanation, it is not known to what extent his Omega Men adventures are still canonical or apocryphal. It is also possible that another Uxorian rebelled against his society and became a Green Lantern. If this is the case, and the current Green Man is new, then the story has yet to be told.
[edit] Biology
Uxorians possess a deadly nerve toxin in their blood stream, which acts as a defense mechanism against predators, such as the beast that attacked Green Man at the Psion research center called Wombworld, which was poisoned when he attacked Green Man.
[edit] Oath
The following Green Lantern oath was spoken by Green Man in Omega Men #29 (August 1985), but was interrupted before he could complete it:
"Bring light to the ring,
I charge thee--
Unveil every evil around me!
Replenish the power to--"
(interruption)
