Greg Conway (born Gregory Noel Burns on December 11, 1960 in Albany, Western Australia) is an Australian Left-Wing political commentator and lecturer recognized as one of the most experienced and influential teachers and commentators in and on Western Australia. As a motivating force and inspirational speaker Conway has been a prolific force for development within Western Australian circles in the fields of education, politics and cultural studies.
[edit] Early Life
Conway was born in Albany and lived there until his eighteenth birthday upon which he left to travel the world. He journeyed through Europe, in countries such as France, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland & England.
He later returned to Western Australia to attend the Murdoch University where he majored in Politics and Cultural studies.
[edit] Career
During his long and varied career Conway has worked in many fields including; as a lecturer at Murdoch and Edith Cowan University, a teacher in many secondary schools, including the famous Perth Modern School (soon to become a Gifted and Talented only school), City Beach and Karrakatta.
During these periods he has been approached by representatives of both the Liberal and Labor parties in Western Australia with offers of endorsement. These he has turned down in favor of continuing his studies and teaching work.
He is also notable for becoming the first fully-accredited Gifted and Talented teacher in Western Australia.
Greg is also known by most of his students as, for lack of a better word, a "tryhard". Ask any student at Perth Modern Senior High-School and they will tell you that he is renowned for making jokes that aren't very funny, but is encouraged by a few students, usually sitting in the front row, that laugh quite loudly at his feeble attempts at humor. The rest of his class are generally quite annoyed by Mr. Conway, but somehow he still finds himself very funny and thinks he is quite "a hoot".
