Gund
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Gund was one of the first manufactures of Teddy Bears in the early 1900s, founded by Adolph Gund in 1898.
It started over 100 years ago, when Adolph Gund built a reputation far different from his competitors by staying true to what he believed in: superior designs, integrity and incomparable quality. Gund's reputation of being “The World's Most Huggable” came from Gund's obsessive attention to craftsmanship, quality and commitment to innovation.
Gund created many of the industry standards today including safety standards and the manufacturing processes for toys. Sweldin, who bought the company from Gund when he retired in 1925, founded the concept for licensing cartoon characters such as Popeye, Mickey Mouse and Felix the Cat.
In the 1980's Gund came out with a slogan that stirred up attention all over the nation, “Gotta Getta Gund” which led Gund to be one of the 50 most recognized companies in America.
Today Gund sells over 1500 products including Gund, Baby Gund, Gund Bears, Gund Holiday, and more. Gund is known for under stuffing their products to make them softer than the standard teddy bear.
