The Gurgl brook originates on the mount Heiterwand near Nassereith on a height of app. 2.630 m. First he flows from West to East to the village. There it changes its route and flows southern to Imst where it merges with the Inn river 4 km away from the town. The only village which is exactly passed through by the brook is Tarrenz. It has a length of app. 25 km.
[edit] Water quality / dangers
The brook is one of the cleanest waters of Tyrol and has Grade A quality. It is a calm, slow running waters which is good for fauna and flora in and around the brook. In Summer a jump into the water on calm places is refreshing.
