[edit] Qualification
All sixteen entrants took place in both of the performances of the qualification round. For the first performance, they received a score from 0.0 to 10.0 from each of five execution judges. The highest and lowest scores were dropped, giving the gymnast a score from 0.0 to 30.0. The second performance had a similar format, but included a difficulty score, determined by two difficulty judges, which was added to the three kept scores from the execution judges. The scores from the two performances were summed to produce a total score for the round.
