[edit] History
Alfred E. Haigh was born in 1877 in Adelaide, South Australia, which was the location for the very first Haigh’s on Beehive Corner in Rundle Street, an outdoor shopping district. The décor of the shop remains the same as it was since it opened. In the 1950s and the 1960s, Haigh's chocolates were sold in cinemas, delivered by “Tray Girls” and “Tray Boys” who stood in front of the screen serving the chocolates. In the period of time when television took over the cinema in Australia, he ventured to Melbourne to expand his already popular business. Currently, there are six Haigh’s stores in Adelaide, five in Melbourne and one in Sydney.
