Halle, North Rhine-Westphalia

Halle (also called Halle in Westfalen in order to distinguish from Halle, Saxony-Anhalt) is a town in the German Bundesland of North Rhine-Westphalia. It lies approx. 30 km south-east of Osnabrück and 10 km north-west of Bielefeld. Population: 21,300 (2006).
The town hosts an annual ATP tennis tournament, one of a small number of tournaments in the world played on grass. The event takes place a few weeks before Wimbledon and is considered a tune-up for the latter tournament.
The town is also the location of the shipping hub for Alternate (company), a seller of computer hardware.
