(a) if you have 299 stores, I think you count as a chain already. i suspect this is mangled and meant to mean something else. but what?
(b) i have a book here 'Leicester, Past and Present, Vol Two: The Modern City', which claims that Halfords started (not unreasonably) in Halford Street, Leicester. Morwen - Talk 21:10, 2 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Removal of street racing reference
Any reference to street racing will be removed, surely a company with shares in the stock market do not want to be associated with illegal activities. WilliRennen 18.20 2 March 2006 (utc)
