Ham's Station, California

Ham's Station is a restaurant and limited convenience store at California State Route 88 in Amador County, California. It is at an elevation of 6,000 feet and stays open year around.
Ham's station, along with Cooks station located 3.3 mi. to the west, are some of very few stops on a 60-mile stretch of highway 88 between Pioneer, California and California State Route 89 junction.
Ham's station was built in 1880 (or before).

There are payphones, which may be especially convenient since mobile phone coverage is limited in the area.
During snowy conditions California Department of Transportation routinely references to Ham's station describing where on highway 88 snow chains are required. |
