The Hampshire County Youth Orchestra [www.hcyo.co.uk] is one of the top youth music ensembles within the county of Hampshire. Run by Hampshire Music Service [www.hants.gov.uk] alongside the Hampshire County Youth Band and various other ensembles it constitutes a pathway for young musicians of Hampshire to climb the "ladder" into a potential music career. Taking on members between the ages of 8 and 18 it is largely based on ability and provides the young musician a feel for a professional orchestra in a relaxed and amateur environment.
