Han Moo Kwan founded in August of 1954 by Great Grand Master Kyo Yoon Lee, is one of the nine original Kwans that later formed Kukkiwon Taekwondo.
Great Grand Master Kyo Yoon Lee was a student at the Chosun Yun Moo Kwan Kong Soo Do Bu, learning from its founder, CHUN, Sang Sup. Later, when the Kwan changed its name to Jidokwan, he remained a member for only a short time before starting his own annex Kwan by setting up a tent at a High School.
Great Grand Master Kyo Yoon Lee continues to be active in the World Taekwondo Federation and serves on the Dan/Poom Black Belt promotion committee of the Kukkiwon.
Taekwondo Han Moo Kwan still exists today, but only as a fraternal social friendship club. The official training curriculum endorsed by Taekwondo Han Moo Kwan is the Kukkiwon curriculum. The current President of Taekwondo Han Moo Kwan remains its founder, Great Grand Master Kyo Yoon Lee. Han Moo Kwan as all Kwan, support the World Taekwondo Federation.

The word Han means Korea, the word Moo means Military or Martial, and the word Kwan means School or Hall; together Han Moo Kwan means "Korean Military School".

The Han Moo Kwan in the United States had been promoted tru various Grand Master. One of them is Grand Master Dr. Ibraham Ahmed who was the first to establish a Han Moo Kwan organization in the United States in 1970. The organization is the United States Taekwondo Han Moo Kwan Association-WTF. Actually Grand Master Dr. Ibraham Ahmed occupied the following positions:
* Vice-President of the Michigan-USA Taekwondo since 1995 to present. * President and Founder of the United States Taekwondo Han Moo Kwan Association-WTF. * President and Founder of the World Martial Arts College.
Also another Grand Master who is promoting the Han Moo Kwan in the United States is Grand Master Sang Sup Kil who is a 10th Dan World Taekwondo Federation Certified and occupied the following position:
* President of the Michigan-USA Taekwondo since 1993 to present. * President and Founder of the United States Taekwondo Han Moo Kwan Federation.
The Han Moo Kwan in the United States had been promoted by many Grand Masters. The Han Moo Kwan is one of the styles of Taekwondo that have a great popularity in the United States in the past 30 years and continue with a fast grow in the country.

The Han Moo Kwan in Puerto Rico is promoted by Master Victor M. Fontanez thru the supervision of Grand Master Dr. Ibraham Ahmed. Master Victor M. Fontanez has the title of Puerto Rico Chief Representative to the World Martial Arts College and to the United States Taekwondo Han Moo Kwan Association. The Han Moo Kwan begin in Puerto Rico in September of 2004 and is a combination of Traditional Taekwondo-WTF and Olympic Taekwondo Style WTF-Kukkiwon. Actually Master Victor M. Fontanez still working for the promotion of the Han Moo Kwan Style in Puerto Rico thru the Regulations and Rules of the World Taekwondo Federation and the Kukkiwon. Master Victor M. Fontanez hold the following titles and positions:
* Puerto Rico Head of Taekwondo Han Moo Kwan-WTF and World Martial Arts College. * Member of the Board of Directors of the World Martial Arts College and the United States Taekwondo Han Moo Kwan Association-WTF. * 5th Dan World Taekwondo Federation Certified and Master Instructor. * President of the World Martial Arts College-Puerto Rico.
