Hanford Joint Union High School District consists of two comprehensive High Schools, Hanford High School and Hanford West High School, in addition to Earl F. Johnson Continuation School and an Adult School. The district serves much of Kings County, CA located in Hanford, the county seat. Hanford High School consists of approximately 1,800 students.
Hanford High School is located in the San Joaquin Valley town of Hanford, California. The school's mascot is the Bullpup, and its school colors are red and white.

Originally, the high school was a single building on the northeast edge of town. Later construction added buildings at that location, and, in the 1960s, a separate campus on the southwest edge of town. The two campuses functioned as separate locations within a single school, with most ninth and tenth grade classes on the west campus, and eleventh and twelfth grade classes on the east campus. Buses ferried students between campuses. Beginning in the late 1980s, both campuses had freshmen through seniors. Finally, the two campuses were split into separate schools.
Hanford West High School (mascot: Huskies) graduated its first class in 2002. Hanford West services students from the community of Armona, as well as Hanford.

Hanford High emphasizes academic preparedness for advanced education, vocational skills training, and agricultural science. Hanford West's Naval Junior ROTC program is a distinguishing feature.
