modified “As a teengager he was an enthusiastic Red Guard” as, aside from anything else, its a little like saying someone was an enthusiastic hitler youth member (tho i realise it was done in good faith). regarding the conflicting versions, the source doesn't do much to enjoin confidence in a claim precisely opposite to what is usually claimed. the version i used is what is usualy in his publicity material etc. see no reason to discount it given the other claim isn't sourced (on the source site). will investigate further, does anyone have any better info?
