[edit] Career
[edit] Global Wrestling Federation
Harlem Heat got its start as The Ebony Experience in the Global Wrestling Federation in 1991. Booker T and Stevie Ray formed the team and won three GWF Tag Team Titles.
[edit] World Championship Wrestling
They went to World Championship Wrestling in 1993 and changed their name to "Harlem Heat" (the brothers were both from Houston, but, according to Stevie Ray, WCW management didn't think "Houston Heat" sounded "tough enough"). They were originally slated to debut as two wrestling slaves called The Ghetto Blasters while being managed by Robert Parker, a former wrestler who was playing the role of a Southern Gentleman at the time. This gimmick was aborted, however, due to the racial insensitivity of the planned characters. The team won 10 World Tag Team Titles before splitting in 1999. They spent most of their WCW career being managed by Sister Sherri as heels and tweeners.
[edit] Break-up / Harlem Heat 2000
In 2000, Stevie Ray teamed with Big T, and manager J. Biggs to form Harlem Heat 2000. Big T officially won the Harlem Heat name in a match over Booker T at SuperBrawl on February 20, 2000 in San Francisco.
[edit] Rivals
Harlem Heat's biggest rivals over the years were The Nasty Boys, The Steiner Brothers, Sting & Lex Luger, Dick Slater & Bunkhouse Buck, Stars N Stripes (The Patriot & Marcus Bagwell), The Road Warriors, Barry & Kendall Windham and The Outsiders (Kevin Nash & Scott Hall).
