The Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie national (Quebec calling itself a nation) park is one of 22 Quebec provincial parks. Despite its name, it is not in the country's national park system, nor administered by Parks Canada. The park can be reached via a local road, 30 km northwards from the Quebec Route 138 in Saint-Aimé-des-Lacs.
The park was created in 2000, and has a land area of 224,7 km², and is the centerpiece of the UNESCO Charlevoix biosphere reserve.
Lots of summer activities can be done in the park (it is closed in winter): Canoe, kayak, camping, canoe camping, water-bus cruises on the river, hiking, and biking.
There are 3 campings in the park. There is one that can be reached only via the river (canoeing) or biking.
There are 7 hiking trails, including one that is 9 km-long with a 800 meters unevenness. With this one, hikers can reach the highest summit in the park, with an awesome sightseeing.
No cars are allowed in the park. There is a parking at the gate, where you need to register and pay to get access to the park. From there, visitors need to take a bus that will get them at some points in the park, and at the Draveur Service Center.
