The Postman Butterfly (Heliconius melpomene) is a butterfly that is from a genus of butterflies that have very similar markings and looks and are hard to distinguish between.

The Postman butterfly has large long wings with an orange stripe down each forewing. They tend sometime to look similar to the species Heliconius erato. There are many forms of this butterfly.

The caterpillar feeds on passion flower species.

The distribution of this butterfly is from Central America to Southern Brazil
