Helmut Zilk

Helmut Zilk (born June 9, 1927 in Vienna) is an Austrian journalist and politician in the Austrian Social Democratic party. He was Mayor of Vienna from 1984 to 1994. In December 1993 he was severely injured when he opened a letter bomb which had been sent to his home in Innere Stadt by Franz Fuchs. He is married to Austrian musical star, Dagmar Koller.
In 1998 the newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung published information that during 1960s Zilk had collaborated with Czechoslovak secret service (StB). Zilk denied this but the planned ceremony where he was to be decorated with an award in the Czech Republic has been cancelled. [1]
