Herma Shipyard
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Herma Shipyard Inc. is the only and largest Filipino-owned major shipyard. It is located at Mariveles, Bataan. Located just 34 nautical miles (157 kilometers by road) west of Manila, the Shipyard can easily be reached by ferry, car, or bus, making it an ideal facility for shipowners that need a full range of maritime services close to the country’s capital. Its location makes it one of the ideal reasons why it is becoming the company of choice for ships plying the Batangas-Manila Bay route.
The Shipyard has a total land area of 17 hectares and is located within a natural cove. This protects the facilities from adverse weather conditions and strong winds brought about by Northeast Monsoon which usually occurs from November to April. Moreover, it is centrally located along the well-traversed shipping routes of domestic and international trade.
The company started out in the year 2000 and offers a wide cariety of services for tankers, self-propelled barges, inter-island passenger and commercial vessels, ship transport vessels, military vessels and other marine vessels of up to 10,000 DWT. Herma Shipyard also offers a range of industrial services from light industrial equipment and machine parts to customized ship outfitting. The Chairman and CEO is Herminio S. Esguerra.
