"12-step version of God"? The subject should be described in its own terms without references to drug addiction or other indicators of blatant bias. Dave 05:14, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
- How do you feel about my edits? I've removed the line "12-step version of God", although I included comments about the 12-steps because I feel that this phrase is most commonly associated with them. Feedback appreciated. Oliver Keenan 19:46, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Religion Stub Tag
I removed the religion stub tag because the term higher power should not be associated with formalised religion. Indeed, the alcoholics anonymous (and other XA) organisations are non-religious although they provide a spiritual programme of recovery. I think we should be very quick to dismiss the idea that HP == God in this article, because it is a real stumbling block for many alcoholics who may be seeking help at Alcoholics Anonymous for the first time. If you would like to discuss this, please message me on my talk page. Oliver Keenan 19:45, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
HP is in fact == GOD, period. its not the light bulb or tree, etc, etc. in the end it does in fact = GOD. Bill W. and Dr Bob would comment about this, when ever they talked about HP. It is GOD, we just don't practice praise like a religion, BUT we do learn to praise GOD, eventually or we die!
