Talk:Highland Railway
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I really don't think that the current page on the HRC is particulary good, which is why I deleted it.
It doesn't tell you anything of interest and is incredibly vague about what its trying to inform the reader.
Why don't we try and re-write it under the headings that I had suggested instead of the mish-mash of cobbled together information that doesn't tell you anything interesting or explain any of its ideas in any depth. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by NeilScott (talk • contribs) 12:21, March 4, 2006.
[edit] Above comment
I agree with the above - whoever wrote it. The Highland Railway proper had a very limited area insofar as its tracks went. The talk about the three Lines is mixing up the modern usage of the system with the historical one - for eaxample the Far North Line is simply the name given by today's operating company, and is not part of the history of the line.
It is therefore much better to treat this as an historical article - after all the Railway ceased existence as such in 1923, and to finish by saying .... "today the still existing HR lines are operated etc etc". I have changed the opening sentence to be a broader statement, and have then put the openings in a chronological order. [edit] Locomotives and rolling stock
No article about a pre-grouping railway can be complete with details of the above, surely? Peter Shearan 18:04, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
