Hirosaki, Aomori

Hirosaki (弘前市; -shi) is a city located in Aomori Prefecture in the Tohoku region of Japan.
Hirosaki was established by Tsugaru clan during the Tokugawa era (1603–1867),and was the capital city of Hirosaki Prefecture in 1871. As of 2005, the city has an estimated population of 189,358 and a density of 362 persons per km². The total area is 523.60 km².
Hirosaki Castle, a famous landmark, is located in the city.It is famous for Cherry Blossom Festival.About 2,600 Sakura(Japanese cherry) blossom in Golden Week,the longest vacation period of the year for most Japanese.

- The city was founded on April 1, 1889.
- On February 27, 2006 the town of Iwaki and the village of Souma from Nakatsugaru District merged into the city of Hirosaki.
