Historic Houses Association

The Historic Houses Association is a British non profit organisation concerned with the preservation of privately owned country houses.
Anyone who owns a qualifying house may subscribe as a full member of the Historic Houses Association. In return they receive advisory services on such matters as public opening and other commercial exploitation of their property, legal issues, and maintenance. The Historic Houses Association also acts as a lobby group in respect of issues which are important to its members, such as inheritance tax and public rights of access to the countryside.
Members of the public who do not own a historic house may join the "Friends of the Historic Houses Association Scheme" which offers free entry to all the full members' houses which are open to the public, private group tours of houses which are not normally open, and three issues a year of a magazine called "Historic House".
