Does anyone else understand the beginning of this article? Seems to me the folk tale should be removed leaving just the disambiguation section. Anyone agree? The Singing Badger 22:31, 26 May 2004 (UTC)
Yes I agree. Better just go to the 'Hittites' article - Jason Lamar

I guess I hit the wrong button,so I started again. I'm not sure what the discussion is about. Is it a question of when the OT was written? i.e. somewhere around the time of the return of the Jews from their Babylonian exile/diaspora. If that is the case I thought that this was pretty well documented in the archeological evidence, that the books of Moses were written about that time by the leaders of the returning Hebrews. This was to help them maintain order, not only among themselves, but, especially to gain control over those Jews who had remained behind after the Babylonian exile. My understanding is that these records are in the Babylonian records, mostly. The Babylonians wanted the Hebrew intelligentsia in their country where they apparently, again according to the records, pro-vided much intelligent leadership in both the crafts and craft supervision. Perhaps someone out there has some access to these records as I am only a layperson in this type of research and wouln't expect to be a recognized source (although I do have some copies of old records dating from this era).
