[edit] Biography
By the age of two, Brook was singing and harmonizing on "Happy Birthday" with her mother, Candace; and at the age of six, she was performing professionally with her mother in a mother-daughter duo called Generations. At fifteen, she had already recorded three independent albums as Generations.
By the time she went to Wisconsin Heights High School, Brook was sneaking into nightclubs and befriending jazz musicians. She says, "the musicianship was absolutely mind-blowing." With the help of a friend, jazz bassist Jeff Eckels, Brook, again at age fifteen, put together her first band, and they played their first show at the Concourse Hotel Bar in Madison.
In 2003, Brook moved to Los Angeles where she met producer Jon Ingoldsby, who has worked with Madonna and Elton John, as well as writers/producers Rob Hoffman and Heather Holley. Together, they produced a demo that grabbed industry attention, which was then passed on to Linkin Park guitarist Brad Delson, who was deeply impressed with Brook's Demo Tape. Then in the fall of 2004, Brad signed Brook to a recording contract with Machine Shop Recordings. Her first solo album, Like Blood Like Honey, was released June 6th, 2006. She is currently setting up a tour to promote it. Meanwhile, Brook has also contributed to Brie Larson's debut album Finally Out Of P.E. and Mike Shinoda’s solo project, Fort Minor, and its 2005 album The Rising Tied, most notably on the album's third single "Where'd You Go", as well as the Special Edition track "Be Somebody". The song "Still Love" was played during an episode of the Dick Wolf law drama, Conviction.
During her time in L.A., Brook has opened for John Oates, Brit Jazz phenom Jamie Cullum and her idol Willy Porter.
