HollywoodPoker.com is an online poker site endorsed by Hollywood celebrities James Woods and Vince Van Patten.
Featuring both free play and real money games, Hollywood Poker offers Limit and No Limit Texas Holdem, Omaha (and Hi/Lo), 7 Card Stud (and Hi/Lo), and 5 Card Draw.
Tournaments are available in single table or multi-table formats. Satellites to major poker events like the World Series of Poker or the World Poker Tour are also offered.
The site's gimmick is that it allows players the chance to play with celebrities, mostly actors and comedians.[1] Celebrities periodically host special tournaments, some of which offer participants the opportunity to earn bounties by eliminating celebrity players. Players are also afforded the opportunity, by exchanging points obtained through playing on the site, to play the celebrity of the player's choice "heads up."
In 2006 the site began publishing an annual calendar, featuring "the girls of Hollywood Poker." Calendar models are afforded celebrity status on the site.
As of October 2006, the poker network that Hollywood Poker is a part of stopped taking bets from United States players because of the signing of the Safe Port Act.[2] Curiously, the site's many American celebrities, who the site uses as a gimmick to attract customers, remain able to play despite this ban.
In November 2006 the site began offering casino games, including blackjack, craps, pai gow poker, roulette and others.
