Gorki is the district center, with population about 40000 people. Here is situated one of the oldest agricultural universites - Belarussian State Agricultural Academy. Academy was established in 1840. Today it have 9 faculties with more than 9000 full-time students. Belarussian Agricultural Academy has a lot of International partners-universities, such as in Denmark, Poland, Baltic countries, Russia, China, Germany, Hungary and others.
