Hot Latin Tracks

Billboard Magazine's Hot Latin Tracks chart is the most important music chart for Spanish language singles in the American music market. It was established by the magazine in the 1970s, when music labels and Billboard realized that Spanish-language songs had a great potential to the American audiences, growing greatly during the past few decades.
In 2005, the song "La Tortura", a duet between Shakira and Alejandro Sanz, made history by occupying the #1 spot for a record of 25 non-consecutive weeks. Before them, in 2000 Puerto Rican group Son By Four hold the record of being at #1 for 20 weeks with "A Puro Dolor".
On the weeks of June 17 and June 24, 2006, Shakira became the only artist to date to occupy simultaneously both Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Latin Tracks with her smash hit "Hips Don't Lie".
As of April 7, 2007, the #1 spot is occupied by the song "La Llave De Mi Corazón" by Juan Luis Guerra y 440.
The chart is based on airplay on Latin music stations. Songs on the chart are not necessarily in Spanish; e.g. Enrique Iglesias' single Bailamos or one of 2006's biggest run on the chart "Hips Don't Lie", a single by Shakira featuring Wyclef Jean, both sung mainly in English.
