Khotan is an interesting anomoly. There appears to have been a strong indo-european influence with connections to iron age europe. This probably happened with the original migration off of the steepe above the black sea. While some of the tribes went west into Europe, some of the tribe migrated east and settled around the Taklamakan desert. The culture appears to have been wiped out around 400 ad by the Han empire.
