Houston Community College System (HCCS) is a community college system that operates community colleges in Houston, Missouri City, and Stafford in Texas.
All of the Houston Independent School District, Stafford Municipal School District, Spring Branch Independent School District, Alief Independent School District, and Katy Independent School District, as well as all areas of the city of Missouri City, are parts of the HCCS taxation area. Houston ISD, Stafford MSD, and Missouri City get free admission while other districts have reduced tuition.
HCCS once was an umbrella under the wing of the Houston Independent School District, starting in 1971 (when HCC was established) - HCCS once used HISD school campuses for teaching facilities.
HCCS is the third largest community college system in the United States.
HCC Central College in Midtown Houston is served by a METRORail station, Ensemble/HCC Station. International High School of Houston ISD opened on HCC's Central Campus in Fall 2006.
The HCC West Loop Center is the site of HISD's Challenge Early College High School.
The HCC Southeast Center will be the site of HISD's East Early College High School when it opens in fall 2006.
