HOWARD HOUSE was established in 1997 and occupies a storefront visual art space in the historic Pioneer Square District in Downtown Seattle. Two large galleries provide a showcase for international national and local artists.
As a contemporary fine art gallery in Seattle, Washington, Howard House, is focused on showing and cultivating emerging artists. Often touted by the press and art buyers as one of the Regions leading galleries, it is dedicated to showing work that is aesthetically fascinating and conceptually rigorous. Progressive and award winning; the mission of Howard House is to bring leading contemporary art to this region and promote the talented artists who work from Seattle nationally and internationally. Owner Billy Howard received his Master of Fine Arts from the nationally acclaimed University of Washington, School of Art Ceramics Program in 1994 and has served on the board of the Seattle Art Museum and former president of SAM’s Contemporary Art Council.
Howard’s knack for building lasting relationships with both artists and clients and his ability to spot emerging talent have catapulted him very quickly to the forefront of the local arts scene in Seattle. Howard House has quickly become a favorite with artists and collectors thanks in large part to Howard’s ability to balance his efforts as both a tireless champion and promoter of his artists as well as a trusted advisor to clients from Seattle to New York. Unlike most galleries Howard offers more than art for sale. Due to the nature and in many cases the price point of contemporary art; many collectors are young and just starting their collecting careers. Howard is seen as a savvy guide to the young collector. Howard has also demonstrated an uncanny ability to show and pick next year’s “art star” with several of his artists winning awards, garnering international attention and being included in prestigious career-making shows such as the Whitney Biennale upon showing at Howard House. This has led to a consistently growing list of clients that include the Northwest’s most prestigious collectors of contemporary art.
