I will share to you how the clan really started, on my own self experiences of course, just to avoid hearing false rumors and believing it about how this clan was established without knowing the full history first, so here it goes:

Going back last June 2002, I was a junior high student by then when I first met this skinny girl in school. I wouldn’t mention her name for her own privacy. Anyway, I didn’t know much about her standings and those facts about her life but all I know is that she used to be my classmate. First day in school, I tried to acknowledge her presence by merely talking to her about things she’s fascinated most and for the first time in my life, I concluded that she’s totally a die-hard fan of Harry Potter. I would be honest to say that I disliked Harry Potter the day the first movie was ever shown here in the Philippines. I never enjoyed watching films with casts so young and those fantasies that would blow my mind away ever since my parents forbidden me. But grudgingly, I tried to be in close contact with what the film was all about when I was a sophomore by visiting those Harry Potter sites and buying only one book which is the Prisoner of Azkaban out of those seven books that are yet to get published, knowing that maybe it can eventually help me change the word and not be called innocent by my friends. Going back to the main history, I listened shockingly at her while I brought back the memories I’ve understood on the Harry Potter story. I would say I quite enjoyed all her talks and expressions about it and I found out that the story was good after all until we did a little Harry Potter sessions up to the first week of July.

One of those days, she came up and invited me to join on her own Harry Potter group namely Potter Friends. I thought she’s making fun of me and I even joked around saying that she can’t possibly have a group of her own in the Philippines. I was thinking about contracts and or copyrights that time which was why I told her she’s not that serious and her invitation was stupid. She eyed me pleasingly, hoping that I will join. Sooner after she told me, I joined and she started sending me those numbers of all the members of Potter Friends. I decided to name myself as Hedwig for only one week and then after that I changed it as Penelope Clearwater. I was lucky that we do not have a member named Percy yet. Well you would know why. As I remember it, we’re composed of only twenty or so members. I wouldn’t deny that it’s not famous yet so it’s fine. I found out that my classmate was the headmistress and told me that she’s running the group for a year before I joined. We tried to recruit more Harry Potter fanatics through radio stations, newspapers, and chats on the television, more specifically the Fuse. It’s been a helpful way for us to meet new members there until I met these two groups too; HP Lexicon, and Wizard/Witch Hogwarts School. The three headmistresses were Maricris, and Clarizza, who shared the same interest like us and got everything united with each other. We got bigger and bigger until I finally met the last Harry Potter group called the HP Clan. Our group was introduced to them especially to their headmaster who is Fiel aka Sirius Black and his close in position, Jhayna, planned to get united as one after meeting these four magical groups.

The five headmaster/mistresses have agreed and decided to name the group HP Clan and make Fiel as the Headmaster since his own group reached two years that time before we even introduced ourselves, while the other four headmistresses were made founders of the four great houses. After a tireless month of serving the clan, Fiel and my classmate finally left their position because of some private reasons, leaving the three founders to plan on who will take Fiel’s and my classmate’s place. It’s not an easy task for them to find one who will suit the position for almost two weeks because no one wants it, not even me. There are a lot of commotions going on that I’m not aware of, but surely they’re desperately needing someone to take the positions. To complete the four founders, they voted for Enna. After some hesitations, I volunteered myself to be the headmistress. I do not have a slightest idea on what’s going to happen to me after I informed them but they’re pleased and I’m glad. They tried to ask all the opinions of the members whether they would agree that I would take the place, well, they did in the end. I was nervous because I feared that I wouldn’t be able to control the clan myself. But why push it? I wanted to experience what’s it like to become a leader in a huge group like this and how to overcome those problems which will take place if I continue it.

23rd of July of 2002, I became the new headmistress with the help and support from the four great founders. I started out by introducing myself as Harry Potter and by getting to know all of my members, I asked them those basic questions that would seem to help me improve more on what to do in the clan. After that, I met the only member who helped me change the whole process of the clan and that was Ruseph aka Cho Chang (former). She made a lot of propositions starting from its main, which is the sorting ceremony and the codenames that members can use. Gathering up all the officials in the clan, we have agreed that Enna will be the founder of Gryffindor and will have the official codename as Hermione Granger, while Jhayna, having the codename as Fleur Delacour will be in Hufflepuff, Maricris who will be best known as Salazar Slytherin, will be the founder in Slytherin, while Clarizza aka Rowena Ravenclaw will take charge in Ravenclaw. So the five of us found ourselves wondering what could possibly make the clan more bewitched.

As the year 2003 approached us, we built a strong bond of friendship and trust from its maximum level through all the activities we did in the past months. We have decided that it’s the time to share more our talents by creating a website, forum, and a yahoo group for our members. Months of preparations took us to form these sites but we did other things to occupy us while we are working on it. Members gave us thoughts of making our own picture messages as a clan, did my first sketch of Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe, did some arrangements to have an eyeball, wherein it was held successfully even though we are not that many. We also planned to make a scrapbook to Daniel Radcliffe for his fourteenth birthday and it was also flourishing that we finally mailed it to him in United Kingdom and sent some virtual gifts to our members via yahoo group. We did great things until December 2003 came. It was the month when we finally unleashed our sites to our members, celebrating along with Christmas.

Everything was done in order up until we reached the year 2004 to December 2005, celebrating 3 years as HP Clan.

Year 2006 came and still we are strong, only we have to vote for another two members to become founders. Clarizza left the clan for important reasons while Jhayna become my Deputy Headmistress. We’ve voted for Emman and Margie, knowing that they can handle the clan a lot better if they become founders. Emman was named Cedric Diggory and is currently the Hufflepuff founder, while Margie was named Padma Patil to replace the position of Clarizza as Ravenclaw Founder.

All our lives changed because of the magic we knew existed between us. We never knew things would happen so differently and that it will change us unexpectedly but we are proud to finally experience it up to the last bit of our desires in the future, leaving us not to feel sorry for ourselves and for others in the end.

Within 4 years of serving the needs of our members in the HP Clan Philippines, we, among any other staff in our group, provides useful communicational techniques to be able to maintain the stability, effectiveness, and participation of the group. HP Clan Philippines has the official website, forum, yahoo group, and friendster account. We are a book-based group and that is particularly jointed to have the officials, certain staff members, and the students as well.

The main objective of the group is to unite with the other group that contributes the same interest like us. The HP Clan Philippines aims to build a strong bond of friendship, trust, loyalty, and unity and really mean it by heart. By forming this kind of group will teach any of us on how to stand united with each other, on how to really appreciate the magic, whether it is realistic or idealistic, and to share our hidden skills on the matter at hand. The HP Clan Philippines exist not only to have a big number of members but also to encourage them to reveal their true image within Harry Potter. Basically, the group also aims to interact with the other foreign potter fans and to establish an equal contribution of respect with each other. We do not own a certain establishment, nor other legal distributors and publishers because it is not our primary target and never will be. It is only our wish to establish this group to have fun, make entertainments to our members and to simply adore the world of Harry Potter.

Being part of the group means (not only) to become a qualified member of the HP Clan Philippines, but also to participate and/or cooperate on our daily activities that we are having. We understand the standings of our members and so we have decided to make activities that will suit everyone’s moods and attentions. We do not make activities that are unattainable or unworkable for each of our members. We do not make activities into our own perception on what it’s going to be, but we try to hear their feedback, comments, and suggestion to make it easier for them to manage. We do not require students to make profit (if not necessary), and have the proper outfit or other things you think will be required on being part of the group.

“The warm welcome made me say I’ll stay forever in the clan, as a newbie, many questions had occurred in my mind and I’m glad all was answered, though slowly. Patience of the members and the staffs are really needed here. I felt pity to the inactive members since they’ll not experience the life in HPC. We wouldn’t know how sweet the fruit is just by looking at it.
