Huang Sheng Yi is a Chinese actress, born and raised in Shanghai, China on the 11th of February, 1983. Her father lived and studied in the USA in the early 1990's and her mother works for a well known and famous newspaper office as an editor in Shanghai. In 2001, she graduated from Beijing film academy and is sometimes credited in her films as Eva Huang or Eva Wong. Huang is best known for her role as Fong, the lollipop girl in Kung Fu Hustle.

[edit] Kung Fu Hustle
Huang Shengyi shot to fame after starring in the comedic martial arts film titled Kung Fu Hustle, directed by and also starring acclaimed Chinese film star Stephen Chow. Her role in the film was the character by the name of Fong, an ice-cream girl who was a humble, polite and most notably sweet girl who was mute, unable to speak. She plays the role of the romance in the movie of Chow's character Sing, the wanna-be gangster out on his luck.
When Sing was a kid, he had been sucked-in to buying a martial arts book from a peasant for $10.00. He then tests his knowledge out on a group of boys bullying a young girl, who are trying to steal a lollipop from her. Sing gets beaten up and even urinated on by the group of boys, as well as being ridiculed for buying the corrupt book of martial arts.
She first appears in the film pushing her ice-cream cart on the street, as Sing and Bone approach it and purchase some. Fong instantly notices and remembers Sing at first glance, as it is revealed in a brief flashback later in the film that the girl he had tried to help was none other than her. Both Sing and Bone run away without paying and jump onto a sreetcart laughing at Fong as she runs behind them, not for their refusal of paying, but to take a second look to assure herself that it was indeed that young boy that had helped her all those years ago.
The next time they meet, Sing and Bone stick Fong's ice-cream cart up and attempt to rob her of her money. As they grab the money tin and empty it of it's contents, they drop one tin onto the floor and Fong picks it up. Sing looks at Fong as she tries to talk to him using sign language. At this point, Sing's memory starts to catch up with him as he starts to remember. Out of the tin she is holding, Fong takes out the very same lollipop she had when Sing came to her rescue, having kept it as she holds it very dearly and is still grateful to him.
A flashback then begins, of the memory of the time he had saved Fong and he was beaten by the group of boys, and the young Fong thanks Sing and offers him her lollipop but young Sing, too disappointed to even acknowledge her, runs off. She again offers it to Sing, still appreciative of his good deed many years ago. After the flashback, it is clear that Sing is feeling great guilt, but his bad side overpowers him and he smacks the lollipop out of her hands, causing it to shatter on the ground.
Later on, after a massive fight scene, Sing realises his bad ways lead to nowhere for him and is helped by two good-doers in the film, the Landlord and Landlady. After he is injured during battle, it appears as if he is approaching death. The Landlord and Landlady ask him for any last requests. Sing then draws on the ground, in his own blood, a picture of the lollipop, signifying his regret for his cold-heartedness towards Fong, and, also, signifying the complete transformation from evil to good.
Lastly, after the final battle Sing endures, he and Fong meet up once again when a lollipop store is opened and Fong walks by, stopping in front of it. Bone is seen working at the shop and then appears Sing. He approaches Fong, and, as the camera pans, the two are shown as their young selves, as they were when he helped her, as they walk hand-in-hand into the lollipop store.

A sequel is lined up to Kung Fu Hustle, but the role of the female co-star is uncertain. Huang Shengyi was slated for a return to the sequel after winning the hearts of many in the first installment, but after working outside of her contract with Stephen Chow's Star Overseas Company, including posing for FHM Magazine China, it is uncertain to whether or not she will return. She has since asked to be released from her contract, asking for it to be annulled. Many in the public feel that she will be very hard to replace if it comes to it, but it is hoped that she will indeed return.
