Hugh Gibson

Hugh Simons Gibson (August 16, 1883-December 12, 1954) was an American diplomat.
He was born in Los Angeles, California, Son of Frank A. Gibson and Mary G. Gibson. On February 27, 1922, he married Ynés Marie Marcelle Reyntiens (died 1950).
Gibson was in Belgium as secretary to the American Legation, when World War I began.
In 1915 he unsuccessfully attempted to prevent the execution of British Nurse Edith Cavell.
Gibson was a friend of Herbert Hoover.
