Humber Valley provincial by-election, 2007
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A provincial by-election was held in Newfoundland and Labrador on 12 February 2007 to fill the vacancy in the House of Assembly riding of Humber Valley.[1] At first, it was announced that the PC candidate had won the election by a margin of twelve votes; however, it turned out that this was a mistake and that the Liberal candidate had won by a margin of eighteen votes instead.[2] Turnout was 62 per cent.[3] Due to the close result of the by-election (which turned out to have been won by a margin of only 9 votes in the official result), a judicial recount was ordered for 1 March/2 March 2007,[4] which resulted in a reduction of Ball's lead to seven votes.[5]
