Hurstpark

Hurstpark was a race course in South West London. The original setting for many famous races was also frequented by royalty. The frying pan shape was used for both jump and flat racing, it was sold for housing in the 1950s.
Mr Alan Green of Epsom rode his first winner there on Bardsley in 1951, beating Mr Lester Pigott. He went on to be a reasonable jumps jockey through the 1950s and retiring from the saddle, led up the Gold Cup winner Saffron Tartan in 1961.
