Hutton Cranswick

Hutton Cranswick is a village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, approximately 3 miles south of Driffield town centre on the A164 road.
Originally comprising two villages, Hutton to the North, and Cranswick to the South, the expansion of these two villages has merged them together to form Hutton Cranswick. The village has a small railway station, served by Northern Rail services on the Yorkshire Coast Line.
The civil parish is formed by the village of Hutton Cranswick and the hamlets of Rotsea and Sunderlandwick. According to the 2001 UK census, Hutton Cranswick parish had a population of 2,015.
Cranswick holds 2 local shops one currently run by SPAR (formerly costcutter), and the local independent shop namely the "blue shop" as coined by the local children. Both are situated off the village green which used to host cricket matches, and is complete with a large village pond. Hutton Cranswick is a regular competitors in the village in bloom competition each year, and therefore are very picturesque throughout.
The village has its own sports area complete with numerous football pitches, astro turf football/tennis courts, grass and hard tennis courts, and a social hall based at the back of Hutton. The village also has a football club, Hutton Cranswick United, whose first team plays in the Humber Premier League.The Reserve team plays in Division One of the County league, and the third team play in the local Driffield league. The club also has many junior teams, ranging from under 8's, right through to the under 19's. One of the more successful teams is the under 15's A team, coached by Ian Miler and Oliver Ezard. Hutton also has a fantastic sledging area in winters called Sandersons pit complete with winding sledge roots and challenging hills to have lots of winter fun on. This used to be opened up by the local farmer for local children to use each winter.
Other interesting places to explore are "swinkle pitt" base at the bottom of Southgate in Cranswick, there is a small stream, sheep or cattle and some good places to bike.
The village used to host one of the best bonfire nights in the area rivalling local town Driffield, this sadly ceased with a lack of funding.
