Dragon Ball Z: Hyper Dimension is the last Dragon Ball Z fighting game released for the Super Famicom in Japan and Super Nintendo in Europe. The game features a story mode that begins from the Frieza Saga and ends at the Buu Saga, although this mode was omitted from the European French language version, with no official reason given for that choice, though it is believed to be due to unfinished translation before the release.

[edit] Game Modes
[edit] Story Mode
The story mode starts off with Piccolo fighting Freeza in the Freeza saga and ends in the Buu saga. The game's story mode similar to that of the anime. The only difference is when you fight an enemy in story mode, for some characters, and they lose, the game continues. But for some characters - usually Goku or Gohan - they die and they have to use a Senzu Bean (credit). Also, the story mode is not like other fighters such as Street Fighter, Tekken, or Mortal Kombat (when you choose a character it only focus on one character). It starts off with one character and ends with a different character. The story mode is also quite inaccurate to the true story; mostly because of the lack of characters at the different events in time we see Piccolo fighting a final form Freeza, Goku being the one to defeat Cell at Super Saiyan 2, and others.
[edit] Versus Mode
A one on one fight with the CPU or another player.
[edit] Tournament Mode
A tournament system similar to the Dragon Ball Z: Super Butouden previous games, allowing up to eight players to participate, including humans and/or CPU characters.
[edit] Practice Mode
The same as versus mode but no damage is taken.
[edit] Option Mode
Used to listen to BGM, sound effects... Although the Story Mode is not included in the French version, the BGM tracks related to that mode can still be heard.
[edit] Gameplay
[edit] Desperate Moves
Each character has a desperate move as well. But you have to do it while your "life bar" is flashing (80 life or below). For example: In Goku's desperate move, he powers up, Shunkan-Idôs in front of the opponent, does a combo, turns SSJ3 and uses the Ryū-ken the opponent in the air, then finishes with a Genki Dama.
[edit] Multi-Tier
Some of the stages you fight in are multi-tier, requiring a certain combo to knock your opponent to another screen, whether it be up (sky, Kami-sama's Palace), to the side, or down.
[edit] Background Attacks and Replenish Health
The character can also do background attacks and replenish their health.
