[edit] Song information
The single was made available on most download services on July 19 and was released as a CD single on September 4.
It became the band's first UK Number 1 single and topped the charts for four consecutive weeks. It ended the year as the UK's fourth best selling single of the year.[1]
The song's tempo, arrangement, use of falsetto vocals, and subject matter have been compared by reviewers in The Guardian and The Sun newspapers to Leo Sayer's 1976 hit "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing."
One of the band members mentioned in a UK radio interview that the song is about staying in at home at night instead of going out[citation needed].
Graeme Garden, in December 2006, had to sing along to this song in the round Pick-up Song on BBC Radio 4 radio comedy show I'm Sorry, I Haven't a Clue. Graeme is the father of John "JJ" Garden, who is the live keyboardist for the band, and also contributes to certain album tracks as a writer and/or performer. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Graeme was able to keep time with the track perfectly.
The song has been in the UK Singles Chart for 27 weeks. (18/02/2007)
The German video-clip show My Video Show uses the song as its theme.
It was performed live at the BRIT Awards 2007.
