From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The suite was formerly known as the Ascential Information Integration suite and renamed to the WebSphere Information Integration suite after Ascential Software was acquired by IBM in 2005.

This is an attempt to define a new type of strategic corporate asset, a data integration platform for ETL, cleansing, profiling, federation and replication. The initial release features integration of the Information Integration products on a common metadata server.
