Ikuta Toma

Toma Ikuta (生田斗真 Ikuta Toma?, born October 7, 1984 in Hokkaido) is a Japanese talent artist of Johnny’s Entertainment Inc.
His family members consists of a father, a mother name Hiromi, a younger brother name Ryusei, and a dog name JAM-chan. His father wanted to name him Ikuta Tamegorou, but his mum changed it to Toma because it’s easier to call. He used to be called Toma, Touma, or Toma-chan by his family and friends. His younger Jr. used to call him Toma-san that turned out to be TOMASU, and then this name was used to be his “trademark” as he hosted a show name “Meitantei Tomasu” in Shounen Club program

[edit] Entertainment Career
His entertainment career 1st started when he entered a popular talent agency in Japan, Johnny’s Jimusho (Johnny’s Entertainment) at the age of twelve on 11th February 1996 by an audition. He got accepted and started to participate under a name of Johnny’s Jr.
Soon he was grouped with some of former member of J-pop unit, Arashi. Together they formed a group called M.A.I.N (which stands for each member’s first name : Matsumoto, Aiba, Ikuta, and Ninomiya). After in M.A.I.N, Toma grouped again with a Jr. unit named B.I.G (Bad Image Generations) along with 10 popular Jr. at the time, this is when he met Yamashita Tomohisa / Yamapi (NEWS) and became a very good friends until now. Soon, B.I.G reduced to two members, with Ikuta Toma and Yamashita Tomohisa
Around 2002, On Tackey & Tsubasa’s graduation from Johnny’s Jr, 4tops was formed in order to replaced them as Jr. leaders. The group consists of 4 members : Toma, Yamashita Tomohisa, Hasegawa Jun (HaseJun) and Kazama Shunsuke (KazaPon). Their works are hosted Shounen Club and lead the Johnny’s Jr.
April 2003, NEWS was formed with Yamapi as the leader, this group debuted along with 9 members from Johnny’s Jr. So 4tops remains 3tops, and not long after that 3tops disband, and each members working under their own name.
As of June 2006, he became part of an unofficial group within Johnny's Entertainment called "No Border", which includes members: Yamashita Tomohisa of NEWS, Murakami Shingo of Kanjani8, Satou Atsuhiro (former Shonentai), Matsumoto Jun of Arashi, Domoto Koichi of Kinki Kids, Yamaguchi Tatsuya of TOKIO, and Takizawa Hideaki of Tackey & Tsubasa. It was group formed when the 8 members from different JE groups met up for dinner and decided to name themselves "NO BORDER". They are known to interact freely, bypassing the sempai-kouhai relationships formed by JE. There is a 7 part round-robin on their jwebs about the formation of the group. Each member has a specific colour - White, Black, Red, Pink, Purple, Gold, Blue, Grey. However, who holds which colour is still unknown
Ikuta Toma shows a great potential in acting in Musical, on his age of 22 now he already participated in numerous performances of Musical Stage Plays. One of his biggest breakthrough in musical was, his 1st leading role in Shinkansen*NEXUS stageplay “Cat in the Red Boots” as TOMA-sama.
He has hiw own temporary J-web serial name Tomagoto (Toma’s words), where he can write his thoughts and experiences. Because it’s temporary, Tomagoto had ended before but after a lot of fans requests, they continued the series and now it’s named “Tomagoto Returns” but read as “Tomagoto Hyper” which has ended on February 28, 2007. He also has a Jweb collaboration with MA (Musical Academy) called KinToMA (Kindan no Tomagoto)
He also has his own corner on Wink Up Magazine titled “Ikuta Toma no Ikita Kotoba”. On this corner he used to talk about “heart touching” things, and he often writes about his mum. Although he had grown up, he still lives with his family

1. The one who invented NO BORDER’s name for the group was Toma
2. Toma is a huge fan of Backstreet Boys. Once he ever “begged” the Music Station’s staff to let him in to the studio and watched Backstreet Boys doing a rehearsal.
3. He will wear a hat when going to school. Reason is because he usually has to dash his way out to school as he has over slept, and Toma is still taking trains to his workplace from his home in Kanagawa prefecture.
4. He loves to collect many types of sunglasses and sneakers. Currently, he has about 15 pairs of sneakers, and a cabinet full of his sunglasses collections. He also collects Soccer Uniforms, and various toy figures like Gundam, Spiderman and even Star Wars.
5. He likes to wear jeans a lot. He feels that jeans are a sporting fashion. He wears jeans when the weather is hot and even when it's winter. That is why many time, the question "Aren't you cold?" is always directed to him.
6. His ideal dream date is to drive at night to a hill top with his girlfriend, and watch a city view from there. He ever did that once with Yamapi, but it felt awkward because all of the people who were there are couples, so they pointed an infra red pointer to some couples and disturbed their dates. They felt sorry for that ^^;;
7. He used to call his mum “Okaachan” when he was a little. But after being teased by M.A.I.N’s member, now he called her mum “Okaasan”. ^o^;;
8. Toma is a very sensitive person, he cried during a movie “I am Sam”
9. Toma is also a freak of X-Japan, especially Hide. He once talked an hour in the phone with Shibutani Subaru (Kanjani8) just discussing about X-Japan. With his younger brother Ryousei, they’re fans of GLAY and always came to every GLAY’s concert during his spare time
