From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Imekanu (1875-1961) was an Ainu missionary and epic poet. In her retirement from work as a Christian missionary, she wrote down epics (yukar) known to her from Ainu tradition; her notebooks total 20,000 pages. A selection of her epics is translated, alongside works by others, in Donald L. Philippi's Songs of Gods, Songs of Humans.
